THE CONTENTS OF THE COURSE

WSET Level 2 is a wine course taught in English, by a certified mother-tongue English speaking Educator, that offers a solid basic overview of production areas, styles and their valuation. Among the main contents: external factors that influence the style of a wine; characteristics of still wines, fortified wines, and sparkling wines; conservation and serving temperature of still, fortified and sparkling wines.

Duration: 3 days, from 9:00 to 17:00 with 20 hours of in-person lessons and tasting of 50 wines.

Before proceeding with enrollment, it is required that you contact us for any special educational needs to be taken into consideration during courses and exams and which may require “reasonable adjustments.” All information will be considered and treated as confidential between the student, Italian Wine Academy and WSET.

Attention: The courses will be held only and exclusively upon reaching a minimum number of 10 students. All participants must have a green pass.

AT THE END OF THE COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

  1. understand the main factors (climate, soil, human intervention) that influence the style of a wine;

  2. grasp the characteristics of the major international grape varieties used for the production of still wines; associate the wines produced with these grapes with a specific style and know how to identify the quality; geographically locate these varieties in their respective production countries and wine-growing regions of the world;

  3. describe the style and quality of the main varieties of still wines produced from regionally important grapes; place other wines of regional importance in their relative wine production areas;

  4. explain the production process of sparkling wines and describe the style for the main appellations of the world;

  5. understand the production methods of sweet and fortified wines and describe the style for the main appellations of the world;

  1. recognize aspects relating to the evolution of wine over time, its conservation and how it should be served;

  2. write a technical description of the wine using the Systematic Approach to WSET Tasting.

Final Exam

The WSET Level 2 Diploma is awarded upon passing a written test of 50 multiple choice questions.
